Ok, so i'm going with a Q6600 (Who isn't!?) and have pretty much settled on a DS4, 4gb of OCZ VP Gold, and i'll be keeping my 8800GTX from by current rig, and am in two minds about keeping my Zalman 9700, the Tuniq 120 is pretty tempting, plus i'll be keeping my current PSU as it has plenty of juice(Thermaltake 750W) and i'll also be picking up a new hard drive, a 500gb SATA II Samsung and a X-Fi Fatal1ty Champion card.....Soooooo any comments are welcome on the board, RAM, and HSF. :)

Your there already :D

Good choice to keep the HSF to see if it works nicely with the Q6600.

If not then you have the dimensions of the mobo to buy another.

Cheers Wiggins, i think i'll stick with the 9700, and see how things are, as i forgot to mention i do plan to push the Q66 as far as i can on air, so i think i'll end up picking up a TT 120 not long after i get this built. Good point about the dimensions too, don't know what revision of the DS4 i'll get as it'll be pot luck, don't mind about rev based on spec, but if one has more space for a larger HSF then i'd snag one.

Do you think the 9700 would do a better job if i lapped the processor and used some AS5 ceramique? I mean, i don't mind shelling out for the TT, as the 9700 cost me £50 a year ago, would the TT also be quieter? TIA.

The TT would definately be a better choice for silence depending on the fan you buy but as you say, the 9700 was a high end cpu cooler a year ago and still is so getting a TT120 wont really make a huge difference on temps. The one advantage you do have is strapping a 120mm fan of your choice to it. There has also been some pretty bad comments as to the TT120's being concave but if your into lapping, it shouldnt make a difference really.
