This will be me returning to PC Gaming. My current machine is gathering dust and does not dream of playing Crysis the way it should be played!(AMD Barton 3200+, NF7-S, 2 Gigabytes DDR, X850XT PE 512mb).

Currently im looking at:

I7 Core 940
Gigabyte X58 Extreme
OCZ 6 Gigabyte triple channel
4870 X2 Gainward Rampage GLH
Asus Xonar HDMI
Philips AmBX
Lian Li PC-X500 (already purchased)
OCZ SSD 30 Gig
1.5 TB Samsung

Any ideas/suggestions?

Save some money and go for the 720 and with a few small changes you'll have this clocked well over 940 speeds

Not sure about the single denisity drive. You might be best off with two 640GB drives in RAID-0 or seperate physical drives rather than one. Or even better buy three and setup in RAID-5 :)

Do you really need the SSD at this point?

i wanted SSD because of the speed? heard that its mega fast and i was going to use it for Vista 64 Ultimate!

The PC above will be connected to an Onkyo Amp and a Samsung Full HD TV..

The OCZ SSD's are no match for the Intel SSD's and since your going for an exspensive system im guessing you are not skint...so i would go with the intel SSD's.:D

Im not skint..but im not minted...im buying each component a month ;) with the money i have left after the mortgage goes out!

ill have to buy the cpu.mobo.gfx card.memory. in the same month because they are interdependent...put that all on the CreditCard! so you think the Intel ones are the way to go?

600 quid seems a little crazy!?

i bought the Lian Li last month and its sitting in my room...this month im getting the coolermaster 800W PSU and January is the Bluray writer month :) its gonna take me ages but i figure..by the end ill have the latest/best components.

Or you could wait until you have all of the money and then buy it all in one go. That means it would be cheaper for you in the long run too with prices hopefully coming down.

Thats what I'm doing. Currently saving all my cash and then next Feb/March I'm going to blow the lot.
