Both are nice cards. I went for the 4870, but its personal choice really. I play lots of games and the 4870 has served me well.

Another reason why i bought a 4870 is for the option of xfire at a later date.

Depends on the res you will be running at, I would've thought 512mb would be the very minimum for 1920x1200. Less than and they are very similar cards, as I've got a 260, I can only say they are a great card.
 
Thnx all, always good to get reassurance...I was leaning toward the 260...I think thats made my mind up....cheers...
