Hi there. I'm currently looking into getting a new PC as the one I'm using currently is getting on a bit and since I play a fair few games it is starting to struggle. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. My budget is around £500-600.

What I have so far is as follows:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 @2.7GHz

CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro

GPU: Radeon HD 4850 512MB (Which brand would be best?)

RAM: 4GB Corsair XMS2 1066MHz

HDD: Probably a 1TB for storage, and salvaging a old one for OS

Case: CoolerMaster HAF-932

The Mobo is where I struggle a bit - AM2 or 3 as they seem to be similarly priced as far as I can see, but I would like the option of going the crossfire route in the future.

Also, what PSU wattage would I need for this? Do case fans get power through the Mobo or direct from the PSU?

Are there any issues or improvements anyone can suggest to this?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Ben

I think you got enought in your budget to get AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition 2.8GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail. much better than the one you picked and much better for gaming

This is a very good motherboard for AM3 Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

hope this helps.

If you're on a budget the Asus 4850 is a great card for £79, you can't really go wrong and it clocks really well if they stock the glaciator version.

If your budget is more in the region of £120 - then get the 4870 as suggested by ojrules.
