Hello everyone, only my second post here and asking for advice :)

Right well recently (about 2 months ago) I build a PC, specs as follow:
Intel Q6700 @ 3.4Ghz
Asus P5Q-E
XFX GTX 260 XT Core 216
6GB PC-6400 RAM
Silverstone Strider 850W
Sasmung Synmaster 22"
Antec 900

About a month ago I RMA'ed my PSU as I had a persistant whine coming from the capacitors. I got a full refund (Few days ago) for that and was dead set on buying a Corsair HX750W, but the RMA has only just gone through.

So as I got annoyed with waiting, and seen socket 775 is going to be a dead chip in a few months, I have sold my Q6700, Antec 900 and GTX 260, but still waiting on selling the mobo. I am going to save up around £1200 for a new PC over the next few months. But I was wondering will the Core i7 1336 chip still be around in september time when they bring the new i5 chip out. Or are they changing the mootherboards for the i7's too.

I mainly want to know whether or not, I should buy what is out now, bit by bit or whether to save up until the new CPU's and graphics cards are out? I could buy the case and power supply anytime which I might do as I have my heart set on a Silverstone TJ07 and a Corsair HX1000W, unless they are changing the connectors for the PSU's anytime soon too?

Thanks for any help.

Despite the 775 is a dead socket, it's very much a capable socket to use, and i would have stuck with your system because your pretty much set for the future with a quad core and your graphics card would have lasted about another year or so.

Either way, the i7 is packing up it's bags to make room for the i5 as you know, but i do imagine it will be completely gone so the i5's can sell. If you get the money before September, i'd get the current i7's whilst they're still relatively cheap.

The PSU you specified is currently pointless, unless your going to go mad with Crossfire or SLi.

I7 I think looking at Intels roadmap will be used for highend terminals, were I5 will be more mainstream, have a look in the cpu section there are a few threads there.

Yeah looked in the CPU threads with info about it etc.

There's just so much choice out there. I don't know whether I should get a E8500, use my current mobo and get a 4870X2 and just stick with that until the end of next year. Too much choice
