New Build

That is a very nice AMD build.

I would go for the AMD build, you can O/C the 965 to over 4.00GHz.

Intel is a nice build also, and you wouldn't have to assemble it yourself.

It's personal preference really.

Firstly, the Intel one doesn't even come with a GFX Card so I can't compare GPUs. 5850 is an excellent card though.

I think that i5 @ 4.00GHz is worse than Phenom II @ 4.00GHz+

The Intel is cheaper but worse performance, the AMD is more expensive (so far) but better performance.

Also I didn't realise the Intel wasn't prebuilt first time I looked, sorry.

In my opinion you should wait a few months and get some of the new Intel and Nvidia products that are coming. They will be more expensive but you could get the budget ones which would probably be around the same performance as the AMD, although better cooling, architecture and all-round performance.

Do you not require a HDD?

For the AMD build, I would be tempted to ditch your ram for this. I would also tempted to drop back to the 955 and overclock it, along with dropping back to either this motherboard or this.

Doing so with above components should allow you to get this SSD.

There are not really many drives out there at the moment that have the 6GB interface, nor be able to use it fully.

Does he really need an SSD?

They are expensive for what they are, even though they are much faster.

To be honest you can't do much with 40GB (maybe run windows faster and a couple of games) and for 100 pounds you can get 1TB+.

Hi

Thanks for your replies,

Which C7 memory would you recommend for the AMD build?

I currently have a 400GB Samsung SATA HDD that I will be using this build on.
