Hey all, been looking to spec a new pc, done some searching and this is what ive come up with:

build.jpg
(Not linked)

whilst im waiting for May for birthday money in theory,i did want to pic up some parts in the 'this week only' offer, and if i see bits in offers may pick bits up as i go.

is it all suitable? predominantly for gaming/film etc. havent put a monitor/peripherals in as yet, as i have a T.V/monitor and the like which i can use for the time being, and looking to find a version of Windows 7 (hopefully a student version where possible just to cut costs down)

should I invest in aftermarket cooling/extra fans etc now, or should the stock stuff be adequate. to start with i wasnt thinking of overclocking, want to get settled with having a 'good' rig before adventuring into the murky depths of overclocking.

all criticisms are welcome, to me it looks like it should be ok, but knowing me ive inadvertantly overlooked something obvious :)

If you intend to get another HD5870 for a Crossfire setup I would look at the following PSU instead:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-117-AN&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=

It has 4 PCI-E power connectors so you can run a pair of HD5870 1GB graphics card. The HD5870 1GB has the same peak power consumption as an HD4890 1GB AFAIK so you should be fine with a 650W PSU.

If you don't intend to Crossfire a pair of HD5870 cards I would look at the following motherboard instead:

You can stick with the OCZ PSU although I would also look at this modular one too:

I would also look at this RAM too:

That all looks good. I would consider this ram: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=my-026-pa&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

if your going to overclock i would definiately reccomend an aftermarket cooler. there are lots to choose from.

if you are looking at a serious cooler i would go for the thermolab baram: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=hs-000-tl

thanks for replying so quick; i will be looking to cross fire in the future, and that PSU looks good so ill note that one rather then one i had, and i ill go with the patriot sector 5 RAM.
And ill make a note of that after market cooler, probably wait till a little while after the build is complete before going in that direction, but thanks for the info :)
