Hello all, looking to get a new pc, purely just for gaming. will have between £1500 - £2000, no monitor, perhaps new speakers, but i have some questions first.
I seen on this site and others, people with two hard drives, graphics card. Do these give a better performance than just one or is there not really much between either? Also, water cooled or air cooled, any difference or just personal preference? If i get speakers, perhaps logitech Z-5500, would a dedicated sound card be worth it or would it be worth just getting one anyway, regardless of what speakers i have?
If anyone can think of anything else that might be useful then please let me know and also thanks for any help with this you can give.

People get multiple hard drives for 1 of 3 reasons or more..

1.) More storage capacity, obviously.. They fill the hard drive space and need more.. ;)
2.) For redundancy and security, RAID 1 (mirrors 2 drives)..
3.) For speed and performance, RAID 0..

So take your pick.. :) Having 2 graphics cards can indeed improve performance by a long shot as long as you are not bottlenecked by your CPU, it can prove to be worthwhile..

Also, yes - a dedicated sound card should always be a must, especially if you're looking to spend money on a decent sound kit such as the Z-5500s.. ;)

As for water or air cooling, that is personal preference.. For now I say you should stick with air cooling to keep the new build for you simple and low-maintenance..

Thanks for the reply, so what is a good processor to go for, i normally go with AMD and the graphics card i have been looking at is GeForce GTX 285 but there again thats just because i've normally gone with GeForce cards?

You could swap the ssd for another graphics card but that's what I'd buy, leaving you with the option to go Crossfire in a couple of years when the 5850 starts to hold you back!
