Hi Guys,

My old PC decided to die today, much to my disappointment. I've been looking to upgrade recently anyway, so this has just kicked me into action.

The spec I was thinking of was:

Asus P8Z68-V LX Motherboard,
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz Processor
Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9
Cooler Master Elite 334 Midi Case - Black

I was going to reuse my current PSU, Graphics (8800 GTX 512), Hard Drive (1TB), monitors, DVD drive and speakers, with the possibility of upgrading the graphics card at a later date (can't really afford to get a decent one at the moment, and I'd rather leave it and get a better one later)

Could you take a look and see if there's anything you'd change

If the build will mainly be used for gaming and light apps use you may want to consider changing the 2600k to 2500K - and you could the money saved towards a gfx card.

I could, but the 2600k is on a this week only offer, and I tend to do a lot of CPU intensive stuff and not loads of gaming, so I think the 2600k is the best bet!

Fair enough, if you will make use the of the hyperthreading with your 'CPU intensive stuff' then the 2600K makes sense - it's a fantastic chip.

If not then the 2500K will motor its way through most everyday apps with ease - it's a great all rounder (i only mention it as it's quite a saving if you don't require the hyperthreading.).
