Hey All,

I'm wanting to build a new LAN Gaming PC, the Bitfenix Prodigy looks ideal for my needs. As for the remainder of the components I'm open to changing anything, I have a budget of around £1400

I've currently selected a 7970, on the assumption that its more powerful than the GTX670, if this isn't the case I've no attachment to the 7970.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition Windforce 3X 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £339.98
1 x Samsung 256GB SSD 840 PRO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7PD256BW) £209.99

1 x Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CML16GX3M2A1600C10) £89.99
1 x BitFenix Prodigy Mini-ITX Cube Case - Midnight Black £64.99
1 x Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £62.98
1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £1,346.87 (includes shipping : £12.50).

I'll be using a 22" Samsung monitor running at 1680x1050, and I already have a keyboard and mouse.

Thanks for taking the time to look over this for me :)

value wise, 7950 is better than the 7970, extra 100 quid for a 5%ish gain isnt worth imo
sammy 830 (if you can find those still) are pretty much the best value ssd you can get
specced the silverstone 500w (out of stock atm) cuz the psu bay in the prodigy is really tiny, 160mm psus are a squeeze in there. the silverstone psu is 140mm long
added a 3tb hdd if u needed

+1 windows 7 is much MUCH better for gaming and generally isn't as **** as windows 8. Also the samsung ssd is much better, has a great read and write speed boot time on my i7 build is about 25 seconds with password after that msi afterburner and skype and things start nearly instantly

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'd not realised the difference between the 7950 and 7970 was only 5%, will defiantly swap over to the 7950.

I've never been overly keen to use water cooling. Would much prefer a less aggressive overclock, for the added piece of mind that comes from not having to worry about leaking components.

Is the 830 likely to come back into stock? Or is it likely to be a case of once its gone its gone?
