So, it's been 3 years since I upgraded my PC, and while I'm paying for the annual holiday at the moment, I should be able to put £200 a month towards a new PC from around June/July. Ideally, I'd like to get a whole system for £800 or so (although I can re-use quite a bit of mine, I hope - and if I can get away with spending less, that's all good).
My current system is as per my sig.
I'd like to keep the case - I like the style. I would like to consider water cooling, if possible though.
The CPU/Mobo/RAM might keep going (although tbh I'd be inclined to replace and upgrade the RAM even if I kept the CPU/Mobo). The graphics card needs upgrading, and I'd like to see about picking up an SSD to run my main OS partition on.
The other key thing is a new PSU. My PSU gave out about 6 months ago, so I bougth a really cheap one from ebay. As you can probably imagine, this is not working out so well, and the system crashes any time I put too much draw on it - but money was too tight to get a decent solution at the time.
I have keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc and am happy with these.
So what I'm looking for is:
PSU (considering something like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-063-AK - I note it's on offer at present, and I might be able to find the cash for this part now - it would hopefully make the world of difference to the machine)
Water Cooling (no idea here - any advice would be greatly appreciated. My main aim is to make the PC quieter)
GPU (I'm a bit out of touch here. The ATI drivers have been causing a bit of hassle, so I'm thinking NVidia, and maybe spending £150 or so. Something like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-063-AK any good?)
SSD - looking for a decent performer at a good price point. Size doesn't need to be massive...
RAM - not too sure what to do here - if I'm going to get an upgrade, I'd like to go to 10 or 12GB, but without spending a fortune
CPU/Mobo - do I need to upgrade these? If so, what is recommended?
