It's been 6 years since I've bought any components so I'm clueless as to where to begin now! My current PC is used for downloading and streaming media to my TV. I haven't decided whether or not to upgrade the whole lot or just the basics (RAM/HDD's/CPU) or buy a new barebone system.

I have specced this below and it is coming in at ~£390, is that a little overkill on the CPU for what I'll be using it for?

Intel Core i3-4130 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Asus H81M-C Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard
2 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache WD10EZEX - OEM ** Single Platter ** HDD

Thanks guys

Cheers for all the specs! I notice someone said any current hardware will be overkill for what I intend to do, my current PC is an Intel E2180 socket 775, OCUK have a intel pentium e6700 which is a bit faster than my current CPU (3ghz compared too 2ghz, would I notice any difference?)

I could then buy some ddr2 RAM and upgrade the HDD's, could anyone tell me if all the HDD's mentioned in the thread would work with my Asus P5K SE motherboard?
