the whole point of the new build is mainly water cooling getting the temps down a the clocks up haha

Why though? Thats a crazy amount to spend when the extra speed will be small % for huge outlay. Why not just spend it on going to X99 and a 6 core?

Also does he need the performance of the x99 platform if only gaming say?

The performance now isn't the reason for builds like this - it's what the performance will be like 12/18 months from now. There'll be no discernible gain from X99 over the current Devil's Canyon platform in today's games unless gaming at very high resolutions. Watercooling when you're spending nearly £700 on it is a false economy.

Will look awesome though...
