I'm wanting to build a new computer. I'm selling my friend some parts and using some from my old computer. I have an i5 2500k, 16gb ram and a 6950. I have a corsair SSD that randomly goes missing from the bios a few times a month which is annoyings so thats another thing im replacing.

I definatly want to start a new build. I have a full tower thats just too big for where I am,I want to go mATX. I can take the PSU, hard drives fans with me, as well as keyboard, screen etc. Its mainly the MoBo, CPU, RAM GPU and water cooler i need.

I have my case - fractal node 804.

I've been out the loop for a while but I want to go Skylake. Undecided with the i7 or i5 as i do some video editing but only once or twice a week. I mainly game.

One thing I am confused about is the motherboard, with x99 and Z170 and others all supporting Skylake. Have no idea which to choose.

Game wise, games I mostly play are Guild Wars 2, and heavy hitters like battlefront, Assassins Creed etc.

Eventually planning on getting a higher res monitor. Currently at 1080p but wouldnt mind going 1440p in the near future. So, whats best? :D

Skylake would be the way to go. X99 is for Haswell-E, a great platform but unless you really need the extra cores or PCI lanes I wouldn't bother.

What resolution will you be gaming at, what PSU do you have and what's your budget?

for the moment i will be gaming at 1080p with the hopes or getting a 1440p monitor at some point early next year.

PSU is Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 850W Power Supply CA-193-CM

Budget wise - Ideally below £1k for mobo, gpu, cpu and ram, and either a 500gb SSD or 2x 250gb SSD's and the cooler (pref an all-in-one water cooler with 240 or 280mm radiator).... don't know what that will get me......

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £997.96
(includes shipping: £11.10)

The 980ti is an utter beast and will have no issues at 1440p

I've got the same AIO and it's great - might want to budget in a couple of quieter 120mm fans as the stock ones can get a little loud at load.

The only compromise is a 250gb SSD
