Looking to upgrade my X58a rig, I have a Friend in Canada that will possibly be supplying some or all the kit as it's cheaper over there at the minute.

I have in mind:
Skylake Rig 1 £607.43:
Corsair Hydro Series H110i GTX 280mm Extreme
ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO
Dominator Platinum 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Dual Channel Kit (2x 8GB), Black
Core™ i7-6700K Processor, 4.00GHz w/ 8MB Cache

Skylake Rig 2 £592.05:
Corsair Hydro Series H110i GTX 280mm Extreme
Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7
Dominator Platinum 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Dual Channel Kit (2x 8GB), Black
Core™ i7-6700K Processor, 4.00GHz w/ 8MB Cache

X99 Rig 1 i7-5820K £733.03:
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Quad Channel Kit (4 x 4GB), Black
Corsair Hydro Series H110i GTX 280mm Extreme
Core™ i7-5820K Processor, 3.3GHz w/ 15MB Cache
Asus X99-DELUXE
Not fully decided on Mobo could be swapped for Gigabyte alternative.

X99 Rig 2 i7-5930K £804.80:
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Quad Channel Kit (4 x 4GB), Black
Corsair Hydro Series H110i GTX 280mm Extreme
Core™ i7-5930K Processor
Asus X99-DELUXE

I could easily swap the X99 mobo for Gigabyte, my X58a-UD7 has done me proud for about 7 years.

It's mainly for gaming though I do a bit of Vid encoding using Cyberlink Power Director to produce replays from my Sim Racing and Family Home Vids.

My current rig is X58a-UD7, i7-950, 6GB RAM, 980GTX.

Opinions?

Regards

Have you accounted for VAT when calculating costs? And possibly a custom fee on top. Plus shipping, currency conversion, handling etc.

I did look into buying abroad and having it sent over but after all the costs here and there I wasn't saving any money, had to jump through lots of hoops and wait ages for shipping. Finally any warranty claim would have been pain in the bum and possibly invalid.

Yeah no VAT or Customs Fee he will be bringing the gift with him when gets his next work flight over here next month. I thought the prices were even cheaper at first as it didn't mention anything about adding 5% GST on the MemExpress website so the 5930K should have been £766.48 without that, I was a bit gutted when mentioned that :(

Warranty wise that does concern me a bit but it's Lifetime with Manufacturer on RAM, 3 year with Manufacturer on CPU, 3 year again with Manufacturer on Mobo (on Gigabyte), I don't see why the Manufacturer wouldn't honour it if it's a gift?
