Well after my psu going boom I've decided to upgrade since 2008 ...

£500 or lower! max I use my pc mainly for photography these days with some gaming so want a super duper one to crunch photos editing, Photoshop etc.

My old pic

Motherboard
Asus: p5e3 pro
Psu: Enermax Infinity 720w
Cpu:Q6600
Gfx Radeon 5870

What kind of gaming could you do on this, out of interest?

Plenty at medium/high settings at 1080p. The GPU suffers from only 2gb VRAM though, so if it's more gaming you're after I'd go with a 4gb variety of either the 960 or R9 380

Interesting, you don't think the i3 might bottleneck some games with only 2 cores? I'm asking as I'm due an upgrade myself soon, and the main thing I want to save money on is the CPU (intend to get a Z170 though so I can upgrade to something more meaty in the future).

Nope. It's a dual core with hyperthreading and makes a very capable budget gaming chip. The OP wanted Photoshop and editing performance though - if you want a gaming machine get a thread up and we'll help :)
