Hey chaps,

doing a new build and since I am lazy / suck at OC'ing, thought I'd grab a Titan Virtual Force VR Gaming PC - Intel Core i5 6600K @ 4.5GHz and change some bits around.

I've already bought an EVGA 1070 FTW last week so the left over bits are:

CP-580-IN Intel Core i5-6600K
HD-192-SA Samsung 500GB 850 EV
MB-675-AS Asus Z170-E Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
CA-02D-CU Cougar VTX 750W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply - Black
MY-26D-KS Kingston HyperX Predator 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15
3000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (HX430C15PB3K2/16 )
CA-029-PT Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Mid Tower Case - Black
HS-014-NX NZXT KRAKEN X61 280mm AIO Water Cooling Unit
SW-172-MS Microsoft Windows 10 64-Bit DVD - OEM (MS-KW9-00139)

I will probs change the PSU to a super flower / xfx 750W.

Anything else I should consider swapping? Budget is defo <1K but the lower the better.

Is a 750W PSU because you plan on SLI? If so, I would rearrange some bits to fit an i7-6700K. e.g. An Antec H600 is plenty for an overclocked i7-6700K, that's £75 you could save there. Otherwise a good 550W PSU will be fine.

No plans for SLI just yet - could drop it down to a 650.

How does the H600 fair vs an Kraken X61? Ambient temp in my room is pretty high (small box room with little or no air con!!!)

As mentioned by Danny, if you don't plan to SLI then drop down to a 550W.

Also the Phanteks Evolv case doesn't have an optical drive bay, so go with the USB version of Windows unless you have an external DVD drive.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,018.76
(includes shipping: £0.00)

Go with the 550W version of the XTR then, or the SuperFlower Leadex Gold 550W if you don't mind the LED connectors.

Win 10 amended to usb.
PSU amended to 550w
Any real difference in the ram apart from being 10 quid cheaper?

Would prefer to have an AIO cooler as said before my room can get toasty (why am I buying a new pc when I should save and move out?!). Chose the x61 as I read/heard good things about it but if theres another that performs similar at cheaper price do let me know.

Never tried the X61. On paper, it should be better. And I'd be surprised if it wasn't. What it won't be is value for money, i.e. that extra £75 won't buy you proportional cooling performance, only a few degrees.

Recent Asus boards can pump more voltage through the chip than others, till you manually set a Vcore and lower the LLC (Load-Line Calibration) as much as you can while remaining stable. Not to put you off, just to let you know to do that/check that so you're not surprised or worried about initial temps. They do that so even the worst chips can run at the spec speeds, I imagine.

May I ask why people are telling op to downgrade the power supply? I know he is not going to do sli but will a bigger ps be better in terms of being more ready to provide power when he adds more peripherals? Does a higher capacity p.s. use more electricity compared to a lower capacity even they are given the same load?

There is no need for a 750W psu for a single GPU as the Pascal cards are very efficient. You could run SLI from a 650W and still be fine. A single gpu is more than fine on a 550W. The psu will only use what it needs.

Because people massively over estimate how big a psu you actually need. Just about any single GPU setup will be fine with a quality 550w psu. The pc in my siggy, water cooling included, hits less than 280w at the wall at full load. It's actually a upgrade anyway because the XFX is a much better unit than the Cougar that the OP originally selected.
