Hi all,

I haven't really done a build for a fair few years so just slightly nervous to get things right...

To mention:
  • In the future once budget allows and higher than Full HD monitors get cheaper I'll probably look to replace the one below
  • A potential RAM upgrade for the future, for now don't think I'll benefit from more than 8GB
  • Don't think I'll want to overclock massively from the start, maybe after a year or two will replace the stock heatsink.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Let me know what you think!

Thanks.

Do you need the build now?

If not you should consider waiting for the Ryzen 5 release.

With driver and BIOS uodates, AMD finally have a CPU to compete with INTEL at great prices. Plus, the socket will have considerable longevity, compared to INTEL, making upgrading comparitvely cheaper in the future.

There really isn't a downside if you can afford to wait a week or two?..

That spec is all over the place :D (Also no stock heatsink with the 'k' cpu).

What is your budget ? Is this just for gaming on ?

I'll probably wait a week to see benchmarks of the Ryzen 5 or maybe Intel will drop the i5 price :)

And this is exactly why I opened the thread, had no idea they don't give a stock heatsink with the 'k' anymore. Last CPU I bought was a 2500k which had it... if anyone could suggest a heatsink that would be grand.

Budget is probably 1400-1500 but if it would go 50 over then that's fine... Main use is going to be gaming and Visual Studio.

Why is the spec all over the place? :) If you mean the speakers for example then I'm not too bothered about sound as I mostly play on a headset anyway.
