Hi all,

I decided to create a new thread as my mind has changed and I am definitely attempting to build my own.

So I'm asking you clever clever people to design my build as I am useless!!

I have 2 monitors, both - 28" 4k Dell S2817Q

My main aim is multi tabling poker, so I'd like to be able to run both of these monitors at 4k to fit maximum number of tables on them comfortably. I also run a large database with the software Hold'em Manager, so it needs to be capable of running this.

I'd also like to be able to play COD occasionally, but I'm not a massive gamer.

Budget £800-1000

I also already have keyboard, mouse etc. So I don't require that, but I do require the rest of the build, including the OS within budget.

Thanks SO much in advance.

Hi,

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £835.08 (includes shipping: £13.20)

Hard drive speed is key. CPU cores are highly favoured by the program but if getting an SSD or NVMe over 2 extra cores then its work it .

Few forums mention the above ^^^ time and time again . nvme drives useless for games but for the above it will come in handy .

depending on how large your database is will define ram needed to run the program , seems 16GB is the recommended

@4K8KW10 time to change your list above to NVMe ;) not so much on sequential but random performance if enough £££

assaultware.blogsport.com/2012/11how-do-cores-affecr-processing-soeed.html?m=1

^^^^ SSD speed . cores/threads dont scale as the would with other workstation software and more akin to Games. Speed of cores would effect as well as ram speed and SSD. fetching, storing and executing hands.

Pure poker - overclock the CPU to 4.9ghz all cores!

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,027.63 (includes shipping: £11.70)

board and igpu cna display 4k screens via single hdmi and single DisPlay Port

want to game a little at 1080p - drop to 6 cores

@orbitalwalsh  These intel-based systems are very poor. The guy said he wants to play. Very nice of you to push him on the intel integrated graphics :D

@Thomas Arrowsmith corsair have a replace with new RMA policy in the uk :)
gigabyte also based in UK for rma

Wow, thanks for the suggestions, you lads are class!

I really like the look of the Ryzen based suggestion by Orbitalbase, not so sure on the case though, will any ITX small case be ok?

Its really stretching the budget, with an OS to buy as well. But I may well order tonight ! Is there anything else I will need other than thermal paste???

Thermal paste in the CPU box. OS you can buy for cheap for 20-30 pounds max.

ITX case:

Awesome, thanks... Going to go with this, just change the Power Supply to Corsair and add a suitable CPU fan. Thanks lads. I'll post pics if I manage to build it successfully

The CPU box has also a suitable cooler.
Don't take a bronze rated power supply when you have an offer for Platinum rated power supply with the same 550 W and price!

Oh really?! Great, thanks. I didn't know it already had a cooler...

Ok, I'll take your advice and stick with that PSU.

As for cases? I'm a total newb, so what size / style case do I have to filter, as I am going to browse all options. I do like a clear glass panel on the side and the option to add some RNG fans in the future.

Yes. :)

Great choice!

Good luck ;)

I read this and assumed these fans where included!

Not only does the Raijintek Ophion Evo have a striking appearance but it has been designed to keep high-end components cool. A 120mm fan installed in the bottom of the case draws in cool air, while two 120mm fitted to the roof expel hot air. If you prefer water cooling, it is also possible to install a 240mm radiator in the roof of the case. Meanwhile dust covers mounted to the base and roof protect delicate components.
