And the time to spend £££s is here again.

Rig will be used mostly for gaming/photo editing

No HDs required, still thinking of soundcard. Got a Dell 22" monitor so will need beefy GC for it. I hope my current Enermax 600W will be up to the task.

Any suggestions to cut down price (without sacrifising performance) are more than welcome:

I wouldn't really bother getting DDR3 ram unless you plan on going for i7, it's not worth the money over DDR2. So if you change the mobo for a cheaper P45, the pro should offer the best performance for the money and get a decent 4gb kit of DDR2. Also the mobo you spec'd doesn't support tri channel memory, so if you were going with the DDR3, you would have to get dual channel kits.

Everything else looks good, although the freezer 7 pro will come with thermal compound.

I'll post a spec up in a minute.

hi,

i have the p5q3 deluxe motherboard and feel that i must give you a warning, that board is a ******* to get running right. It is prone to crashing and BSOD if overclocking the memory past 1333mhz, and it does'nt seem to like memory that is not on the qualified vendors list. My advice to you is either buy memory that is on the qualified vendors list & dont overclock the memory past 1333mhz either that or make a new selection for you're motherboard and go with the X48 chipset but with that said if you get the right memory and get it all setup right, that boards one of the best i've ever owned. Just do a bit of research on the net first before you buy it.
