Hello

I currently have virgin medias super hub, from this i have a cat 6 ethernet cable coming from the super hub into my room into a netgear cable router with built in 4 pot switch.

I find the netgear router crashes a lot and i need to be able to connect more ethernet devices now, idealy 7 devices in total. Not all theses devices require internet conectivity all the time but on rare occasions do.

The main purtose for having all the devices connected via ethernet in file sharing and media streaming.

Im now looking at getting a new router to replace my current netgear but cant fine cable routers with built in 8 port switches. Do they exist? is it necessary to have the cable router aswell? would a normal switch allow me to connect the other conected devices to the super hub via the ethernet cable?

Many Thanks

Pretty sure all you need is a switch.

You don't need a different cable router unless you want the Superhub to act as just a modem and use a different cable router for wireless duties as well.

If you don't care much about wireless, let the Superhub handle it (albeit not too well) and just use a switch.
