I need a new cable router but havent got much of a budget maybe £60 tops but preferably cheaper.

At the moment ive got my desktop and my xbox360 wired into my linksys router and my partner uses wireless with her laptop.

My current router is g standard but her laptop is n standard so would preferably like one that would benefit her laptop. Also my stepdaughter would be connecting her netbook wirelessly but i think its only g standard.

Any help would be much appreciated

WRT54GL flashed with Tomato.

If you're using tomato you want an RT-N16 these days, and that's almost £40 over his budget. The newer builds are slow on 54gls, hardware just wasn't built for it. To quote Vicktek (and remember it's slower once you start adding services like qos):

"Tomato RAF 1.25.8025 (Kernel 2.4.22) WAN-LAN 85M
Tomato RAF 1.25.8515 (Kernel 2.4.22) WAN-LAN 58M
Tomato RAF 1.28.8515 (Kernel 2.4.37) WAN-LAN 38M
Tomato RAF 1.28.8615 (Kernel 2.6.22.19) WAN-LAN 30M"

That said, unless the op is moving large flies around the lan, there there's no benefit in a N router for the laptop. Unless you need extra features like dlna/usb or (in tomatos case) have a line running over 20meg.
