new camera, first shots

ok so seeing everyones work on here has got me into starting photography as a hobby, so today i went and got a fuji s6500fd and here are the first shots! (dont forget im still very new to this hehe)



 
#1 Why not make get the whole pier in shot (or just half of it), not 7/8ths!. It also needs straightening. It's potentially quite a nice shot though with the reflection in the sea. I'd personally be adding a bit of contrast and seeing if I get make the white a little less blown out.

#2 Again, you've clipped one end of a groin off! And again, a potentially nice shot with a little more processing.

Composition is probably the most important thing in photography. This is a good tutorial. If you don't want to read the whole thing, focus on the rule of thirds.
 
hi, thx for your reply, now you have pointed it out i can see what u mean, next time hopefully i will remember to bear that in mind.

as for the tutorial u linked, i stopped reading it to see your reply :)
