Hi guys,

Just a quick question, can anyone recommend a camera for taking photos of aircraft. Budget of £200. I'm clueless.

Cheers

Difficult for £200 as I'm not sure about compacts apart from the higher end ones like the nikon J/V 1 stuff sorry!

Basic DSLR of the Canon/Nikon flavour and a telephoto kit lens -both second hand? Probably a real struggle on that budget though.

Panasonic Lumix of some description?

Are the planes static or will they be flying by?

If static or v slow moving then a reasonable superzoom (something like a fuji prosumer - think s9600) would be ok.

For moving objects then I'd persoanlly search out a DSLR. In your budget you'd be looking at a second hand lower spec model with a longish kit lens as julianhj stated above.

A pocket super-zoom (PowerShot SX260 HS/Panasonic's TZ30) or save another £50 and buy a canon sx40?

Haven't looked into them much recently but its a fair bet the canon and Panasonic are amongst the top end. You will also probably be able to add Nikon offering as well.

Thanks for the advice guys, think im set on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48 Digital Camera, with 8gb memory card.

The Panny FZ should be a good bet. I had a FZ30 for a while and it's a versatile camera. I can only imagine the FZ48 should be a step up!
