First shoot with my new Nikon D610 full frame 24mp, at Great Orme just north of Llandudno UK. Never photographed sea shots before & was a bit out of my comfort zone of fields & forests. The camera has a built in spirit level which came in handy to get the horizon level, I even assigned the function button to activate it so when looking through the viewfinder its just a case of tilting left or right to get the horizon perfectly level.

Coming from a DX sensor to a full frame sensor there is a significant improvement of detail where I found the supplied kit lens of 24-85mm is struggling to keep up. I could even tell in the viewfinder it was not that sharp, if that's possible? After the first few shots I stuck with my trusty nifty fifty
Although I've never liked zooms & had the bundled kit lens as an all rounder.

I was impressed with the dynamic range of the D610 which was able to capture the many tones in the sky. Although I'm still learning about Photoshop, like how triple bracketing for HDR needs a bit more experimentation (no shots here are HDR). I don't know if I've overdone the darkening of the sky in some shots?

Coming from the D90 my very first impression of the D610 was how plastic it felt, even the shutter release button feels like its made of very cheap plastic, bearing in mind my old D90 was never a pro camera either.
I also expected something bigger, although it is noticeably bigger than the D90.
The shutter is much quieter than the D90 too.

I was tinkering with getting the D800, but I could not really afford it yet & with only having a 50mm lens, Id need another £1200 for the 24-70 F2.8 Nikon lens as well, or a couple of good primes :D

I'm not that proud of these shots but it was a new camera & new environment, all in all though... a cracking camera.

A couple of my favourites here & the rest on Flickr here
As always, comments and criticism welcome :)

I don't know if Ive darkened the sky too much in Photoshop, its actually a tiny bit darker than it actually was.

I really like all the tones in the cloudy sky here.

I really am blown away by the definition compared to a DX sensor.

Yeah I think the D610 viewfinder is 100% & deffo brighter than my old D90.
As you say, I'm loving the tonal range & how shadow areas can be pulled in.
D610 is not a pro camera though like the D700 so its a bit small & plastic, but I think the sensor is awesome.

Eyes are -4.5. Don't normally wear contacts when taking photos. Think I got it about right now :)
Maybe because it's full frame & something I've been wanting to get for ages I'm feeling a little pressured into getting everything perfect. Looking forward to some nicer weather & getting out there.
