New Camera and Canary Wharf stuff

On a brief note, I just sold my D70 for a D200 and I'm amazed by it. It's simply in a different league!

I'll get out and about sometime and post some results!

On another note, I was out at canary wharf playing around with a fisheye lens (nikon 10.5 dx) and after a while a sercurity guy came up and had a chat. Turns out they don't allow people to take photos of the buildings now, generally he said they let it slide for compacts but for serious camera gear they make a point of it. Seems odd (terrorists don't use compact cameras huh?) but thats the deal. The guy was decent about it (helps I have a building security pass for canada tower i think) but thats the deal. I was wondering if anybody else had a run in with them??

Yup. Apparently it's because you're on private property. There was a leaflet and article posted on here a while back about photographers rights. You could just phone up and get a permit again someone else here must stil have the number.

Private property is what means they can yes, the reason given was terrorism, which struck me as odd. I'd have no problem getting a permit i don't think (hell, I have a security pass for the whole building from work).
