'New' car advice

Well I certaintly don't need a 50k car. That is the max end of my budget and something I could reasonably afford on a good finance deal now, or in cash if I hold off until mid/early next year.

I have a 54 reg astra, which costs about half the price of my watch. I just figured it was time for an upgrade!

I could happily buy a 10-20k car if it makes sense to do so, but if I can get a lor more bang for my money I don't mind spending more. I just need some help!
lol! This is going to be good :D

Don't have a huge interest in cars but want something fast and flash but cheap to run whilst being able to carry a few passengers every now and again. Also won't suffer massive depreciation.

What about an Alpina D3. £20k buys you a nice early 07 E90 Saloon model and theres a nice 18 month old E92 Coupe Bi Turbo one for £26.5k on pistonheads.

Just a thought

Ah the D3 :(

The D3 BiTurbo Coupe would be very near the top of my next car list if it wasn't for one crushingly huge flaw. There is a £1500 charge to add ANY factory options to them when you buy the car new. As a result, almost every one has ZERO spec at all. Look at the one you've linked to - it even has rotary controls and manual air conditioning. It even has part cloth seats :(

If only they were dripping in spec :(

I didnt even know they did diesel Alpina's, there is something tragic about that :(

Alpina have done diesel models since 1999 with the D10 BiTurbo.

The original D3 is very tragic though as there is nothing special about its engine at all, it is simply a 320d.

Well I suggested D3 because I thought the extra running costs of the B3 maybe wasted on this bloke.

But yeah I did notice that about the spec. Even my 01 318SE base model had digital climate control

They are out there with a nice spec but you pay for it... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1649772.htm

With a larger turbo, intercooler, injectors and remap of course? 200bhp isn't exactly shy from a 4 year old 4 pot derv.

Yea but whats the point, if you want a performance variant of a car get one.

You dont see AMG knocking out C250 diesels do you.

I just think they would appeal to people like the thread starter. Flashy looks with reasonable running costs and minimal depreciation. Also a nice upgrade from an Astra, lets face it jumping straight in an M3 no matter how sensible you are will probably end in tears.

That is true.

AMG did make a C30CDI AMG but that was only in the states AFAIK.

C55/E55 Merc? They're nice cars.

At least it had 5 cylinders not 4 and never graced these shores :)

They were available in the rest of Europe too. They just didn't do a RHD version.

231bhp from a 3.0 diesel isn't bad, especially when you consider it was 8 years ago!

Quite.

Brilliant car. 250bhp from a 3.0 diesel 10 years ago!

Dodge Challenger SRT8. It's loud, fast and bright orange. What more could anyone want. If anyone disagrees just rev the 6 litre HEMI and you won't be able to hear them anyway.
