New car misting windows

Using the "Mondeo" does save me a considerable amount of money, even including Tax, MOT's and Insurance. My boss has a Arnage T, the XJR is about 3/5MPG more efficient.....that’s it. They really didn’t consider fuel consumption when making the XJR.

You would need to do 30k+ around town for buying, running and insuring a £5000 2.5 V6 X-Type a money saver.

How does it save you money?

Ill break it down for you if I must:-
(not including MOT's or breakdowns/faults)
£5000 to buy the X-type was out of my own pocket (no loans).

Cost running XJR on its own
Insurance £57 PM
Tax £16.60 PM
Petrol £350 PM
TOTAL £423.60 PM

Cost running both XJR and X-Type
Insurance £79 PM
Tax £33.30 PM
Petrol £200 PM
TOTAL £312.30 PM

Saving £1335.60 per year.

I know you've worked it out and you feel it's best but have you taken into account that you have two lots of depreciation, servicing, mot, wear & tear aswell as what you have priced for?

Sure you're not just driving differently? And 40 miles is really... nothing to get excited about

Pretty much. Just following the same routine. It's not really a lot I guess, but I have a habit of watching how many miles I do to the tank and being annoyed if it gets considerably worse. Getting old before my time :)

I've had the simliar issues in my last few cars - all of which were brand new cars and did this from new, so it can't be a fault.
It would happen when I returned to the car after I'd been driving with the air-con on, as soon as I started the car the windscreen would mist up immediately, and would only disappear if I continued to use the air-con.
However, if I'd been driving without the air-con on, the car wouldn't mist up on return, it's a bit annoying as it seems pointless to have the air-con running on every trip.

When I had it, my X-Type misted up quite badly too and so does a neighbour's who still owns his.

I tell you when I noticed it at its worst, after going through a carwash and after coming out the other side once the blowers had dried the outside of the car.

Damn thing misted up so bad during the car wash that you had to drive out and go and park up somewhere for 5 minutes or so until the glass had all cleared.

Dunno, maybe it had a leak somewhere or something?.

Never found out and traded it in anyway at a later date.

I have the same problem myself, took it upon myself to change the pollen filter, checked all the window and door seals, still nothing. Hopefully the warmer weather will be along shortly anyway! It only happens to me in temps of 5 and below.

Think this is just an inherent fault of the astra, mine is terrible for it, I know I have 1 tiny bit of dodgy seal but the thing is awful first thing in the morning, cannot wait to get rid just for a bit of convienience to be honest :D

So pretending neither car ever needs tyres, ever fails an MOT or ever needs a service, it's going to take you 4 years to even break even on the purchase?

£5k buys lots of petrol for an XJR. And £5k of petrol in an XJR = more smiles than £5k of petrol in an X-Type.

yeah im on an astra forum and its very common on the astra "G", sometimes it wont cause any problems but this evening I had the heated rear window on for a good 5 miles until it was cleared up! Thats with the blowers too!

Just out of interest mate I dont suppose you know if its possible to fix broken heating elements in the rear window is it? When I got the car it came with a sticker advertising the car garage which i didnt want there, so i gently removed it, it appears to have damaged 3 of the element strips and its really annoying me so want it fixed!!
