Bought a car last friday and am yet to recieve a V5C. Spoken to the DVLA, they tell me its currently a four week wait!

Isn't this a bit of an issue if I get any traffic fines or even just a simple parking ticket via ANPR in that time frame?

Any fines would go to the old RK who would tell them that we're no longer the owner. You'd then receive the fine at some point.

Seems an odd worry unless you're expecting to receive a fine for some reason?
Potentially expecting to recieve a parking charge notice. I was visiting my partner and had to park in a Ringgo car park, and left the car park a couple of times whilst still within my parking period before coming back. Couldn't see anything on the Ts and Cs forbidding it. Also it was a long ish journey on roads I don't normally use so I'm always aware that that's probably the most likely time to get a fine or something.

Like I said, just occured to me as its also not showing up the expiry date for the tax I put on it when I bought it

Always do it online, less hassle and you get email confirmation.
Well it's the garage. They said they'd do it and they took my details and gave me the new keeper slip but there was a pile of other V5Cs there so don't know if they do them individually online or send them off batch via post.
How long do I give before doing the V62? DVLA says they don't have the V5C.

Dealers dont get their name put on the V5, it will always be the previous owner. Hence why there is the yellow bit (I think) for selling your car to a dealer
Someone suggested I can get the V5C online by putting in the 12 letter reference code but ommitting the first character? and do it as if i were the trader and get the v5c that way.
