After all the umming and arring about which Passat to get and trying what seemed like a million different cars, I've got one that I'm really happy with. I know it won't be everyones cup of tea, but I think I got a reasonable deal...

It's a dark green, SE spec, diesel with 42000 miles on the clock with a full dealer service history, leather interior, electric seats and parking sensors and all that jazz. In the end it cost the 08 Ibiza 1.9 TDI DAB Special Edition + £500. It needs a good wash so there'll be more pictures soon.

Nice car. BILLS INCOMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! though. But dont worry, although it will at times seem relentless its worth every penny :p

Why was it so cheap? Thats a facelift one as well, gotta be £12-15k worth? Way more than an Ibiza?

That ain't a passat? or have I read this wrong?
I started a thread asking about Passats that got a bit out of hand, and then proceeded to buy something completely different

An X5 isnt the sort of thing its clever to buy without doing a lot of homework either. This seems odd.

Seems cheap, lets hope he got it from a dealer, otherwise i fear the rozzers may be round asking for the car back.
It is odd. We got a good deal because the person we bought it from, who we know very well indeed, got it valued by Sytner at BMW for a part-ex and they only offered him £10k. They also for some strange reason valued the ibiza way higher than expected, so the guy decided he'd rather see it go to an appreciative home, and took the Ibiza and a little cash to put in for the part exchange.

Brilliant, looks like you've got yourself a bargain. Make sure its looked after properly and good luck with your new £200 a corner tyre bills :D

It's like a Passat only 1000000000000000000 times less crud.

Same sort of thing happened with my mother buying a C200k. He (fairly clueless) took it to a dealer to get it valued, who tried to rip him off (offering 40-45% less than its market value) - then he went to my mother and offered it to her for the same price. She took it :D

dealers really dont want X5s at the moment as they're hard to shift.

Too un-pc in these credit crunch times so they offer them deliberately lower part ex values to disuade them for part ex'ing them.

Dealer is happy as the seat ibiza will prolly be easier to shift
you're happy as you get a bargain
he's happy because he got more for his trade in

everybody's a winner !

Any better pics? form side profile the SE X5 looks like an X3 (which looks tame compared to the usual meaty looking X5s).

I know it's an SE and all but it's an X5 !

The side profile of the SE and the Sport is the same. Infact the Sport looks the same visually generally. They don't have a noticeable bodykit like the 3 and 5 Series.

It's the wheels that does it I suppose! unless it's the angle the photo was taken....better pics!
