New car options:

That works out at £370 a month and does not include maintenance.

So, where can you lease a fully maintained one for less than £300 a month? I think the answer is 'nowhere'.
Even at £370 it's still less than £650...

You also need to factor in P11D costs on that car versus the P11D on an electric...

OP what job do you do, how big of a car do you need?

Could you consider something like the EV9?

Is my maths wrong? At £35k new can't you buy one and own it in 54 months at £650pm?

Obviously you have to factor in insurance and maintenance, but you also get resale value too?

You are excluding financing charge which over 54 months will be considerable (especially at todays rates).

£650 as a net amount does seem incredibly expensive. So much so that you should probably check you've got the numbers right.
Obviously provider dependent but for me I can get an XC40 for £530 month (base model 175kw recharge 69kwh). For £650 month I am getting a 300kw twin ultimate 82kwh. This is net impact too; so actual amount sacrificed on the expensive one is £1,050 lol. I guess it is a 70k+ car.

P11D is just under £62k, not 70+. Also your scheme is way better than ours, seeing almost £1.5k p/m gross on that model, or around £900 net. Mental! Need a lot more than free charging at work to make that make sense.

£650 a month for an entry level SUV. Absolute insanity
Assuming it’s the dual motor ultimate spec then it’s not exactly entry level - 408bhp and virtually every tech/spec option included.

Just make sure you get the 2024 model as it’s much improved over the 2020 version.

Hello. The time has some to look at a new car. I’m wondering what option to go with as correct choice. The wife is thinking to do salary sacrifice on a Volvo xc40 working about £650 a month. The other option is though my LTD company. Need a ULEZ vehicle anyway and she works from home in the week and a few site visits. I’m looking at an EV and would look at a Volvo also. Obv I need a decent size boot to carry parts and some tools for doing my work plus quoting. Any advice appreciated.
heard great things about the xc40 recharge . for me the cupra born would have to be worth a test drive , as well as the MG4 if you want a little cheaper.
what is the lease deals on the model Y like? I only ask because my mate claims.he got a phenomenal deal on one at the end of last month, it's delivered in September.

I have a colleague whose company offers a tier system. They pay like 500 gross exchange for an ipace. Jealous!

I would love some form of company car scheme... sadly I am no where near important enough to get one. the joy of scientific research in academia, so I have to pay the going rate :(
