yeah was lookin to spend about £150 the LH811 your looking at £179-£200
*edit* just found 1 on ebay for £150+£10
I bought the LH811 about a month ago from Halfords, despite everyone on here slating Halfords it was the cheapest place to buy the headunit from (even cheaper than internet/ebay) and it was reduced from £300 down to £150. I snapped it up right away because to be honest with only the £150 i had i couldnt exactly be picky with my selection because the headunit i wanted was waay out my price range. A week later it went back up to £200 so i was quite lucky, Halfords also does free fitting on all JVC headunits so i let them fit it for me. They seemed to know what they were doing and the bloke even connected up th amp leads for me (they were at the back of the headunit anyway).
Anyway, for the price the LH811 looks damn nice and packs a lot of good features. One thing i like is the layout of it, it looks stylish and it isnt crammed full of buttons. I also like the fact that navigating through folders is really easy as well. However, the up/down folder buttons are exactly parallel to the next/previous track buttons so there has been the odd occasion where i have changed the folder instead of skipped forward a track. That was probably down to my carelesses rather than the design of the headunit.
A few features that i love about it is the fact that you can choose what backlight colour you want as well as creating your own, this also incorporates into the day/night colour settings where you can have different backlight colours for day and night. That saves you faffing around with dimming the backlight down in the dark because it distracts you.
JVC have a feature called PICT on there better headunits (this headunit is quite high up so has this feature as well) where you can import your own pictures and animations onto the headunit (it actually saves them onto the headunit) which is cool. However, i havent tried this feature out yet but with the headunit you do get a CD with a program that llows you to make your animations and pics to put on the headunit.
Another feature it has that i now cant live without is the motorised tilt function that allows you to tilt the face of the headunit so you can see it. This espectially would help out if the headunit in your dash is placed quite far down so it is hard to see it.
The little remote that comes with it is tiny! It works well but i never use it. The only time it is used is when i have passengers and they like to play around with the headunit.
I also have a couple of subs and amp in my car and they work well with the headunit. the headunit has 2x outputs and subwoofer out connection as well.
The only problem i've had with it was that i dropped the face of the headunit into the passenger footwell and that caused the button that releases the headunit to break. I got the face replaced though as i told the Halfords guy that it 'fell off'. It was my fault though and the headunit is very well built.
Overall it is a great headunit if you have around £150 to spend and i dont think you can do better (there is a Pioneer one that people recommended me when i was in the same situation as you but it looked horrid).
