New Car Time - Some Advice Please

Guys,

Ive about managed to convince my company to take back the Astra 1.7CDTI in return for a car allowance.

I have about 8k to spend on a car, 3/5 door, i do no more than 200 miles a week and every 2 months do a 1k return trip to london.

What i would like

Less than 50k miles
Less than 5yr old
Cruise
Leather
Not a Ford/Mazda/Lexus

Thats an awful drive, why not just fly when doing such long journeys?

i wold of thought that the ford mondeo would be the best suited? any reason why no fords? yet you would have a vauxhall?

When i say london, its farnborough, do it in 6hrs.

If i fly i have to do a days work, driving gets me out of this and i can listen to some tunes on the way - however, Astra 1.7CDTI and 6hrs is painful.

id have a vectra cos i loved my sri cdti 150, just dont like mondeo's for some reason...

Your Vectra was not very good compared to the Mondeo.

16k a year, some long runs, less than 5 years, less than 50k, for around £8k?

The TDCI 130 Mondeo seems ideal, but as you're rejecting Fords how about the 2.2 i-CDTi 140 Honda Accord or 2.0 D-4D Toyota Avensis?

The Accord seems perfect to be honest.

If you like the cdti 150 get a Fiat Croma. Dirt cheap.

never heard of fiat croma, and tbh, i wouldnt have a fiat, too much of a snob!
