New card 1080 only?

So my current card r9 380x is still ok but it's starting to struggle a bit with higher settings.

As I'm only ever going to play 1080 what should be my next card, a 5600xt or a rx580 or 590?

Last week oc were selling a 5600xt for £250 and some for £280ish. I'm a little confused, was the £250 card slightly lower spec?

Can these lower spec cards be improved upon by updating the bios?

Hey man, 1080p 60hz or high refresh? Makes a bit of a difference between the two, my 580 gets over 80fps 1440p medium settings for games like Modern Warfare

Consider a GTX 1660, it should offer around a 50 percent improvement in performance.

Or hold off for a few more months for the new GPUS to be released and get either a good deal on last years range or jump in for one of the new cards.

Ahh, if you're wanting to push the full 144hz wih max settings you'll want more than a 580 then, but most people expect pricing on currently put stuff to drop by the end of the year, but if you can afford the 5600xt then go for it, there are a lot of benchmark videos out there so try to check one which has your main games im just to be sure you can get the full 144hz

I'd just go with brand you trust that reviews really well, personally I have had good experiences with sapphire cards, and I think the powercolour cards are petty good too. There's a hardware unboxed video which compares almost all of the models, I would refer to that as they have numbers to back it all up

the only value buying new right now is rx 570 8gb rx 580 8gb but they are stop gap cards really
it's the worst time to be a buying a gpu as the likes of gtx 1660 2060 5600 5700 are probably going to fall in price

11% difference it's what takes the 5600xt past the gtx 2060 slightly

I couldn't get my gigabyte 5600xt to flash to 14gbps and the jury is still out on these 5600xt cards being able to even do 14gbps without overheating

the problem is the coolers were all made for 12gbps apart from one model the sapphire pulse has the same cooler as their 5700xt model

if you can afford a 5600xt i'd say it's worth the stretch to a 5700xt but wait until there's one for £300 or less it's what I am doing

New cards coming out next year is of no use to me just hoping theres an announcement or something that makes current prices drop a bit soon

cheers. i couldnt justify a 5700 at the moment, I'm a very infrequent gamer. A 5600xt at £250 is doable I think.

No, you should be able to overclock it yourself to 1400mhz or more

I'd just add, do you notice the difference between 80hz and 144hz? Because if not you'd be fine with an RX 570-580-590 and get a very good refresh on ultra

This is about as fast as a 5600xt and £180 - I got the same and it was simply a return they couldn't legally sell as new

590s and 580s are still available new on amazon so it could be an option.
moving up to a 5600xt was to ensure i could play my current older games on ultra and hopefully any games in the future on decent settings.
If I buy a new card I want to see a big improvement on my r9 380x. Like I said my moniotor is good but only 1080.

as for refresh rates, I was playing at 60hz for years, I never knew it was capped at 60hz/fps. It's now off and I'm getting much higher fps on Doom eternal.

I can get a 5500 for £185 too.
