Morning all, looking for some advice on a new graphics card.

I have a quad core C2D, 4 GB ram and an X1950.

I like my games, even if I dont get a lot of time. Play mainly L4D2, TW games and D&D online. Wife and kids have 8800GTX cards and I have noticed they do better than me in game smoothness. I figure its time I looked at an upgrade! I dont want to spend mega money, say £70 max and happy to go second hand. Running as many PCs as I do it has become an essential and I find I no longer need to upgrade quite so often in recent years to continue playing the games I like. I game at 1680x1050, have multiple 22" monitors setup at that res I am happy with.

With Shogun TW2 out I figure I will benefit from a faster card, but which one?... This is where you knowledgable people come in!

Whats best bang for the buck second hand around £50-70? Will I see a significant difference?

Yea...either a 2nd hand 5770, 4890, GTX275 for around £70, or you can try your luck to see if you can pick up a 2nd hand GTX460 768MB for £70-£80 (this would be the best choice if you can find on at this price range).

If you could stretch to £75-85 you can pick up a GTX285 2nd hand, if not then GTX275 would be a good option as mentioned in a previous post.

Dont forget to check that your PSU can power whatever card you buy both with reagrd to the required wattage, power on the rail (amps) and with regard to having sufficent 6/8 pin connectors (or suitable adaptors)
