Evening gents,

Currently running a Nvidia GTX 750 Ti, which has served me well for the last year or so but with GTA5 and Homeworld Remastered coming out I'm slightly worried that it just won't cut it anymore.

My current rig is: (VM Lab part time)
I7 4790k
Kingston HyperX 32GB (4x8GB) PC3-19200
sat on a Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H Z97 running Windows 8.1

I'd like to stick with Nvidia unless the performance is worth it, and with a budget of around.. £250 I'm looking for options.

I play on a 1080p single monitor at 1920 x 1080 and normally turn off stuff like motion blur
Would like DVI out, and HDMI or two HDMI's.
I don't watercool my machine.

Anything else just ask.

Well if you increase your budget then you could get a 970 as at 1080p you likely WILL NOT be affected by the 3.5gb vram issue before anyone puts that into the mix.
However with your budget being slightly under i could only suggest a 780 prossibly or maybe a second hand 780ti
However your right on the doors on a 290 / 290x which is what i would have suggested for that price range but you prefer not to go down the AMD route.

So 970 if you can increase your budget or try 780 or 780ti.

I have no real objection to go AMD, if it's best bang for buck within the price range.
It's just the last time I ran ATI was, I think, a 9800 128MB AGP and the drivers were a right cow.

So either 290X or GTX 970:) personaly i woulg go for nVidia. Amd is a bit old power hungry tech comparing to GTX 970. And, yestme to, i dont think U will be affected woth 3.5GB issue.

The 290x MSI le gaming is a lot of power for £239. 970s are good cards but they are gimped and also prone to low fps/usage stuttering even without hitting the 3.5gb vram.

Don't think you can go wrong with a 970 or 290X imo. When I had the 970 it was great at 1080p so if you're used to NVIDIA I would try and get a 970 if you can find one for £250.
