I have the Gigabyte GA Z77 D3H motherboard so i presume i can only go for AMD cards since on the website it only mentions Crossfire support and not SLI?

I currently have 2 x 5870 cards but i'm looking to upgrade to a single card solution.

Firstly because this motherboard only has one x4 slot so the second card is running on a x1 slot.

Secondly because i'm sick of all the stuttering in games like far cry and bioshock which don't happen when i run a single card only.

As i understand it the 8000 series won't be released till next year so what advice would you give on getting a card now and which one would be the best to go for and which has the best overclocking potential.

I would say i'm willing to spend around £300

Thanks.

Get a 7950 better bang for buck that the 7970,
Unless your are cross firing or sli that won't matter
I have the same board it can take a single card by either
No need to crossfire or sli though

Yeah mate any

As for over clocking depends on what card, my sapphire was the best for over clocking I have an msi now that's not bad. Avoid reference and xfx and you won't gontoo far wrong.
I only. Run a little over stock now as I don't need the graphics power, the 7950 runs most games on ultra at 2560x1440p
