I have a i7-4770K 3.5 and with a 780ti. Looking to buy a 2070 or 2080. What I am not too sure about is if my processor is going to be a bottleneck these days? although I don't need the 2080 performance at the moment, is it worth spending the bit extra as future proofing?

I've got an i7-4770K @ 4.4. It would be worth overclocking your cpu to squeeze more out if it. Getting it to 4.2 can be done fairly easily with minimal tweaks. This would them limit any potential bottleneck.
