New card bought, PSU help

I just got my new graphics card in the post and after reading the requirements I am concerned if my PSU will run it properly.

I've asked numerous times on OC forums about which PSU and many recommend a Corsair 430W V2 but the requirements for my new ASUS 6850HD GPU require a 500W minimum with a 40A 12V rail.

The Corsair doesn't have these specs, is this just a recommended or is the corsair capable enough to run the GPU with 8gb RAM and i3 540 processor?

The recommendation will usually be quite generous and aimed at low quality power supplies, I would expect it to be fine with your Corsair and that spec... if it isn't you will likely have reboots or other odd crashes.

If the PSU is not good enough it will usually not post or cause reboots, lockups and other odd crashes... the last thing that should happen is for it to take out your PC, that has only really been known to happen with low quality or faulty PSU's.

I have another problem. I am trying to run the computer, everything seems to be running except the video. I've swapped around the VGA ports, checked my monitor and the PCI-E. Everything fits in appropiately but the video isn't running, it's simply a black screen.

I believe that I have an issue with the PCI 6pin connectors for the GPU, I have 1 running to the power supply and 1 adapter to the power supply but the fan works and the pc doesn't shut down at all.

The graphics card is posted above.

FYI, I didn't have any instruction manuals with the delivery other than a installation for general graphics cards which doesn't help me.

Please help. Thanks.

The PSU is likely not enough. Those cheap Corsairs really aren't very good at all.

Just tried my old GPU, working fine but I believe there is something wrong with the PCI-E connectors, the adaptor has 2 connectors which I've used and a much smaller, thinner connector that I can't find any use with.

What was the problem?

Like I said insufficient PSU can cause a POST failure but I would have thought a Corsair 430W would be sufficient for an i3 and single GPU.

Good to hear you've got it working.
