Hey guys, I will be upgrading for pretty much PC gaming only

I game on a 20 inch Samsung monitor at 1680 by 1050

I currently have a AMD Phenom II4 965 Processor 3.40 GHz AM3 board

8GB RAM and a 2gb 6950 graphics card

I will also probably need a new motherboard aswell, I was told to stick with asus, gigabyte or msi, good advice ?

Could I get new mobo, cpu and graphics card for around £400 ? im hoping my PC Gamer case and RAM will hold all the new parts, the 6950 just about fitted, thanks for any help, something that will keep me going well for around 2 years maybe ? im not sure as im not high up on PC parts, thanks again

For a decent graphics card, would I be looking at a 970 or R9 290 x or similar ? good upgrade from a 6950 ? I guess I may also need a great cooler and PSU are a must ? maybe sell some of the older parts for some extra ££ ? thanks again

You probably want to post a "spec me" thread in the ocuk full systems and bundles part of the forums, listing what you have and what you hope to achieve.

I would go more upgradeable 1150 socket, if you want upgradability then AM3+ is no way near as good as 1150 in terms of CPUs. For £150 + £25 for the H81M-K board you'd be flying and have better upgradeability than the AM3+ socket, and more performance overall

Assuming you have DDR3 already

I think my current PSU is around 600 watt, not 100% sure though

would I be better going for that 8 core over the 6 you mentioned ?

yea if someone can spec me a good combo of graphics card, mobo and cpu that would be great, something to keep me gaming 2 years maybe ? thanks

What is your exact PSU model? No good running all your new stuff on a £10 eBay potato :D
Also, what is your case?
