Ive had a 2900xt since launch and its never really been a very good card so should stick with ati and go for a 4870 or go for the 260gtx?

I have an Abit ip35 mobo which i understand is PCI E 1, will this effect my new card?

Finally i see there is a 1gb version of the 4870 coming soon, will this make much of a difference, my native res is 1680x1050.
