If your short of cash and would also prefer to upgrade your memory as well (as you've not put any specs down in your sig so I am completely guessing) you coudl go for a 3850 512mb, and then get http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17832566 as well.

The 3850 is exactly the same as the 3870 only that it runs GDDR3 instead of 4, and runs the core slower. You can pretty easily get to 720Mhz anyway with basic overclocking, which will be nigh on the same performance as the 3870. As a side note, the fan on that card you have is very good, but it cannot be slowed down and runs at 100% the whole time so might be a little noisy for you. (not that is that loud just it may be to loud or 'you'.

If you could manage to get an 8800gt for the max £170 that is also a very good card and well worth the money (faster than the 3870 in general), but it depends on what you prefer to spend the money on, and if your gonna screw yourself financially to get that extra £10.

About the 8800GT. Saw a 256MB version. Would that be anygood or would it be worth me getting a 512 for £160 from here. The again ive seen a 8800GTS 320MB for £140 from here too
Hmm choices?

Can't mention prices from elsewhere, but id stay away from 256mb, 512mb is what you want, 256 wont cut it these days, games are using more memory for bigger textures now, and theres also AA/AF to think about, also 320mb GTS is old now, GT is a lot faster, and even 320mb wont cut it, GT 512mb is the card to get if you can afford it, i went from a 320mb GTS to the GT, GT just destroys it.

Welcome to the forums btw. :)
