im pretty sure the 6800GS is faster than any x800. Although even if it isnt, I would take the 6800 anyway because it supports SM3.0 unlike the x800 series

Stock 6800GS (native AGP or native PCIe) are generally between the GT and Ultra performance wise and not faster than the x800 - but do have the advantage of SM3 which personally I would take over the slight performance edge for todays titles...

I agree, then it would be the X800. Today would favour the GS no doubt :).

Sorry about not believing you but as you seen in one of the links I've posted, I already had proven to someone recently that the X800XT was better than the 6800Ultra. So you can see where I had my doubts about the GS doing it lol. Truthfully though, I don't know a lot if anything about the 6800GS.

@ oweneades Very impressive on the record for the X800 :). I had one (XT PE) but only overclocked marginally as all my games were flying along as it replaced my 9800Pro. What were the stock clocks of your X800 and can you remember the standard clocks of the XT PE model?. Just reminiscing.

In general no the 6800GS wasn't faster than the X800 - but somewhat late to the game a couple of companies released 6800GS cores along with fast 512Mb DDR3 memory that would clock like crazy - being late to the game and quite pricey they mostly went un-noticed but they would have beaten all but the highest volt modded, extreme cooled X800. I don't think anyone ever tried voltmodding them as they'd hit over 100C with max OC on stock voltage.

EDIT: Found an old screenshot:

If they'd put more ROPs/Pixel pipelines on it - it would have probably given the 7900GTX a run for its money.
