Just ordered some cargo pants off the bay that have kevlar/aramid lining and dupont hip and knee pads - all for £36 posted.
Will update on the quality etc.
I work in an office so hopefully these will look ok for that...I usually wear jeans to work anyway so can't see a problem.

Just can't force myself into the usual gear in this weather which is annoying as I'm using my van all the time now we have nice weather and the bike is sat in the garage.

I bought them for the commute to work really which is around 10 miles and most of that is a dual carriageway.
I will still be using the proper textiles for an actual ride out.

So the pants arrived today...
I normally buy 36" waist 33" leg for jeans etc.. but I ordered 38" waist 34" leg for these and they are tight - I will have to send off for a 40" waist.
They have the kevlar/aramid sewn onto the butt area and all down the side seams - about an inch or so on either side of the seam.
They seem ok really for the money.

No casual trousers will ever beat leather and the Aramid jeans would definitely be ruined after a standard slide off. But you can't wear leather all day at work or just pop round a friends house, so it's a compromise.
I used to wear my full on textiles then change when i get to work, but i soon got tired of that, especially in the heat.

The way i see it, they're better than standard jeans.

Exactly what I'm going for!
I find that by the time I take putting all the gear on I could be half way to work in the tin can - I could get up a bit earlier I suppose...if it weren't for the fact that I can't get up on time as is.

Took delivery of the new pants last night and now sat in work in them.
I must admit the 40" waist is a bit big but tbh the legs are right and I only have chicken legs.
The knee pads seem to sit a bit higher than I would expect but other than that they seem fine.
Hopefully I'll never know how they stand up to an off.
