hiya chaps,

My current case seems to be suffering from poor airflow and as such I think something in it is overheating ( not bothered with temp monitoring but I'd guess the HDD as it's quite warm ) causing lockups unless I remove the side panel. Current case is an Antec SLK1650B and I think the cause of the problem is 2 fold.

1) the HDD and X1800XT are causing a semi duct effect accross the bottom of the case from the single 80mm input fan ( which doesn't seem to push huge amounts of air ).
2) the side hole pulls air over the CPU which is good for the CPU but doesn't allow much extra air into the case.

So I'm pretty sure there is little cold are getting to components other than the CPU.

I'm therefore looking for a new case to try to lower case temps.

Budget isn't high but I'll let you advise on cases without a budget restriction - just don't go silly :P

Lian Li PC-007 :D

Akasa Eclipse

Silverstone Temjin TJ05

Antec SLK3000B (can have a 120mm front intake, also has mesh in the side to aid graphics cooling)

Coolermaster Centurion 532

Yes and no ;)

It may be listed as the PC-7 but they send the PC-007, few minor changes thats all :)

choices choices...

Lian Li is obviously a solid case, looks a bit boring though :p

Silverstone - stunnnig but pricey..

Coolermaster - yuck - lol

Akaska - not bad but out of stock :(

Antec - Not sure - havn't seen the internal layout but if it's anything like my case I might hit the same problems :/

Guess it'll come to Lian, Silver or Akaska.

The silverstone is *only* £74 for the black one, if you like the look of it it is a good case, cheaper than the eclipse too.

The v1000+ is an excellent case but a bit pricey if you don't want to spend much.

v1000+ is the best case mentioned, be prepared to either talk to me or spend 4 hours if it makes your rig run at 60deg :p

It has a wacko cooling system, that cools my pc at room temperature +2  Just takes a little time to get setup.

The PC7+ / PC007 / PC7+II is a great case, a little boring maybe, but you could always get a side window or a TR3a to liven things up a little.

Mmm read a review on the Silverstone and it appears it can have problems with drive installation :/

Whilst I believe they have a fix for the problem I think I'd rather not take the risk :/

Stick with Lian Li, there so simple there is nothing to go wrong :p

PC7 is cracking value, solid case, and looks quite nice in person with the brushed aluminium.

Go on ;)

Just to note, a review of the v1000 can NOT be used to judge the v1000+; they are two completely different cases.

The v1000 is dire, the v1000+ is superb.

Normally you don't need the top blowhole filled at all and are better off with just the 120mm / 120mm fans.

The blowhole only comes in when your running SLI overclocked and bank full of hard drives really.

Just the 2x 120mm will do; the case will come with some but the Amber fans are better.
