Hi Guys,

Need some advice for a new case please.

I recently bought a Bitfenix Survivor but my system runs far too hot at circa 60+ C at idle and 80+ C when gaming! It was obviously a wrong choice, as a Lan goer i was suckered into buying it because of the handle. Anyway, I am now happy to bite the bullet and buy a new, more appropriate case. My question is what do i go for?

System Spec for information:

* ASUS P7P55D - motherboard - ATX - LGA1156 Socket - P55 - LGA1156 Socket
* I5 processor, over-clocked to 4Ghz
* ATI RADEON 5870 GFX
* 4GB MEMORY
* 2 normal hard drives (Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB)
* 2 solid state drives
* Xonar Sound card
* 700W PSU

Requirements:

* The system must be air cooled.
* Willing to spend around £100.
* Noise isn't a major consideration - obviously the quieter the better - great - but not a deal breaker.
* Must be suitable for transporting around a fair bit to LANs etc.

Thanks a lot.

Slightly over budget:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-075-SV&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=1092
- Very good air cooling, 90degree shift in mobo as well.

way under budget:

- very good air cooling, not as good as above but aside for the antec 100 probs one of the better air cooling cases sub £100

Also very good:

- but a lot bigger so less mobile....

Second link is an rv03 btw

I know the last four don't have handles, but surely there's other ways of transporting it?

You are quite right. I was just looking for additional convenience of something like a handle but will be more open minded as is now necessary.

I'm quite sure the Cooler Master Storm Scout will not fit my graphics card because the card is so long. Even if I could bodge it in I would probably encounter the same heating issues.

Looking around, I'm thinking it might be worth upping my budget to maybe something like the Silverstone Raven 2 RV02B Full Tower Case.

Rv02 is bigger.....quite a bit really.

Rv03 has different fan placement along the bottom so as to better cool the mobo, but has vents in the sides which increase internal dust and noise.
Also the rv02 has an entirely different setup, same 90 degree angle but the psu is moved to the front....meant to be better for cooling or something, plus the whole thing is made more compact as a result.

If you intend to take the case to lans then the rv03 is probs the better choice.

That said i believe the rv02 is the cooler of the two. And if it doesnt solve your heating problems...no case will :P

And above I meant the ps03... must have used the same link twice, my bad

I moved from an Haf-x to a RV02 and my temps dropped 8-10 degrees. My graphics 6950 full load goes no higher than 70 degrees even in the hot weather and my computer room is like a furnace.
