Going to try keep this short:

got a new case because i needed space for more hard drives, put everything together and the computer would boot , but keep rebooting it self every time i turned it on, so i came to the conclusion that there must be a short, i found an extra case stand off that was in the wrong place and removed it.

I put everything back together again and now the system wont boot up, I've tried literally everything, when i press the power button the motherboard will light up for an instant and then nothing.

Any help guys?

Well done for having a standoff in the wrong place. A less sarcastic well done for finding it, checked the others?

Take the board out, sit it on the box it came in, and ask it to boot. If it does, look harder for a short.

If it doesnt, strip it down to 1 stick ram, processor. Gpu if you must, try to get the speaker to beep. Try to get any sign of life out of the board at all.

I'm glad you've tried literally everything. Care to list? It would greatly help diagnosis

Try and boot up with everything out of the case mate, sit the motherboard on a cardboard bor, and just hook up the psu/mobo/ram/cpu and graphic, and try to enter the bios.

If you can start adding things like hard drive/dvd drives :)

Completely agree here, out on the box and take your time adding parts.

Could be a possibilty of having another stand off in the wrong place or you coudl have been unfortunate enough to have caused damage to your board from teh initial mis placed stand off.

Let us know what happens...

does the pc reach the post screen, or even the bios screen? or does the screen stay blank?

do all the fans spin, then shutoff for a few seconds, then start again?

When you guys build a PC, do you jus build it on a cardboard box to begin with, make sure everythings workin and then disassemble and stick back into the case or do yo ustick it all in the case and hope it works?

Ive always gone straight into the case, being sure to do things right first time.
Pretty easy not to make a mistake as long as you take ur time over it all and pay attention.
