Hi all,

Well my initial attempt at building my new i7 PC didn't go to well this evening. My Antec NSK4480 case is too small to even fit the motherboard in let alone the rest of the components (by about 5mm ).

So now I need a new case.

My main requirements are good cooling, near slient running, decent amount of space, not too large (not Armour sized for example) and also not stupidly expensive (~< £100). Oh and I want to be able to hide as many cables as possible.

What would you guys reccomend based on my requirements above?

I quite like the look of the Lian Li PC-A07B although I don't know much about these cases.

I am going to read up on a few cases however additional suggestions are always nice :)

Cheers
Owen

Lian Li A05 (small but can take full size ATX mboards)

Lian Li A17 (decent cooling)

Antec 300 (cheap + even better cooling)

Hiper Osiris (nice aesthetics)

I would get the Hiper Osiris, for the price this is a great case aesthetically and well worth the money. I would put it on par aesthetically with Lian Li, the new coolermaster atcs 840 (£180) and many silverstone cases. Many of these are far greater in price.

Here are some reviews:

If you have a bit more money (£150) you may wish to look at the new Silverstone Fortress FT01 Case which is has a similar design to their £200+ TJ07

Here is a review from Bit-tech (note they compare test results with many cases including the Hiper Osiris)

Thanks for the replies guys. :)

I quite like the look of the Antec 300 although the lack of a modular PSU (and me be anal about cable management) means hiding cables may be hard. I am not sure about the 900, it looks ugly in all the pictures I I have seen. How noisy is it?

Cheers

I would get the antec 300 and get a new modular psu like a corsair hx520 or hx620. If your serious about cable management then modular is the only way to go in any case.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Turns out after fiddling I have been able to get everything into my Jeantech Phong case (YAY! :D) AND have been able to hide most of the cables (which is no mean feat thanks to the Corsairs ample length cables).

I am really chuffed as I love this case. It is butt ugly but cost me nothing and has fantastic user controllable cooling.

Should tide me over until I can afford the Lian Li case I really want.

:)
