Hello,
I've just bought all the components for the system I'm building and I realised I may need a new PC case.

Here's my thread but just for convenience here's all my components:

Motherboard:
Intel DP965LT 965 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-011-IN) £88
Processor:
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN) £250
RAM:
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) (MY-013-GS) £174
Graphics:
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO) £164
PSU:
Tagan TG580-U15 580W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-009-TG) £82
Cooler/Fan:
Thermaltake Big Typhoon 4 in 1 Heatpipe (Socket 939/754/775/478) CPU Cooler (CL-P0114) (HS-007-TT) £30

competitors listed on site - sorry, don't mean to sound sarcastic but, PCservice call don't sell anything.

Will I need a new case? My current case is from my eMachines 5240 and the motherboard was a Micro-ATX.

There's so many different details for the cases on overclockers so I'd really appreciate it if you could suggest a case without a PSU/cooler as I've already bought those components as listed above.

Thanks and sorry for another thread about my computer :D

Yes you will need a new case...

<£40 - Super lanboy

£40-£80 - Lian Li PC7+

£80-£120 - Akasa Eclipse

£120-£160 - V1000+

£160+ - Silverstone TJ07/Lian Li S80

The only think you should consider is that if you get the Lanboy, you have to think about how big the typhoon is, and whether it will colide with your Tagen

Aye up, a Typhoon. Is it removable? Even if it is it would be a waste though but then again it's a cheap case so wouldn't be wasting much.

Anyhoo, is the Super Lanboy likely to be back in stock any time soon? The Lian Li is a minger! lol.

The lian Li looks great and the build quality is higher, dont know about stock for the lanboy though (I have both btw)

what do you mean????

The typhoon, that's a fan right? Well, can you remove it? because if you can then I could remove it so it doesn't collide with my Tagan. But if I removed it I'd be removing a perfectly good 'typhoon' :)
But then again, it's the cheapest case so even if I did remove the 'typhoon' it wouldn't really matter.

Sorry if I'm not making sense :)

Raikiri, which Lian Li do you have? Because the Lian Li PC-7 doesn't look very pretty from the picture.

The Big Typhoon is a HSF (Heatsink and Fan)

It would be the size of the "typhoon" heatsink thats the problem here. not the fan - of course you can replace the fan, but I think what is being suggested is you might want to think of a HSF thats of a lower profile, as not to cause problems in the small Lanboy case.

in any event I'd go with a bigger case for that system, will be 100x easier to build and maintain.

whats your budget for a case?

Thanks for the explanation! I was confused.

Raikiri, I'm not sure, the Lian Li PC7 looks a bit plain, could be just the picture...I'll think about it. :)

Is the Lian Li PC7 bigger than the Super Lanboy? And it wont have a typhoon will it? :D

The
Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Black Aluminium Midi-Tower Case (No PSU) (CA-054-LL)

isn't that bad, probably looks nicer in person, but not too keen on the white-grey one.

Is the Lian Li bigger than the Super Lanboy and will I have a similar problem to the typhoon thing?

Also, I've already ordered all my other components today, is there a way to add the case to the same delivery so I don't have to pay for delivery again?

 you have already purchased the Big Typhoon, so it will be in whatever case you buy.

The problem with the Lanboy is thats its a very small case, so big HSF like the typhoon can foul on the PSU/PSU Bracket.

:)

Sorry I just confused myself! I forgot my cooler was called the "Big Typhoon" and thought you were saying the Super Lanboy already had one installed. Never mind.

So I wont have any problems with the Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Black Aluminium Midi-Tower Case (No PSU) (CA-054-LL)?

cant speak from experience on that front, but I would think not.

the PC7 is a very popular case around here. Not that I have one ;)

but then again, Im unpopular :o
