New case temps poor!

Right guys I’ve just purchased a new Thermaltake Soprano case (side window) I had a foxconn case pictured below swapped all my hardware booted up and instantly notice higher CPU temps, in the foxconn there was some sort of tunnel directing the CPU cooler air out of the case. My CPU temps idle in the foxconn were 31c in the Soprano there are 41c however my two HDD are massively reduced temperature wise, they now are 25c idle so that’s pleased me it’s just the CPU temps that are annoying me,

Any tips/suggestions?

Hi, the foxconn tunnel thing is actually guiding air to the CPU HSF. I think your Soprano has a 92mm fan in the window, can you not use the air guide tunnel with the Thermaltake fan?? Also check to see if you haven't disturbed the HSF when you moved everything to the new case.

By the way 43C is normal for your CPU.
You should really use something like CoreTemp to view temps

Hi SiD-P thanks for the reply, I cannot move the tunnle thingy because its welded onto the foxconn case, the one in the pic looks plastic however mines metal, I understand the part about the tunnle effect reducing temps, but 10-15c more? Yep the HSF is in the same position all secured etc left attatched to the mobo when swapping.

Edit: Theres not enough space to mount any more fans, Theres x2 12cm & 1 9cm Thermaltake fans,

Another Edit :p Just saw your edited post SiD I was seeing 31idle in the foxconn yet a more expensive better cooled case jumps the CPU temp to 43?

Im quite sure the air guide thing was making your temps look low. SpeedFan takes temp readings from the mobo sensors, the guide tunnel air hitting the mobo probe may give you false lower readings.

I use the new Intel Core2 CPUs & SpeedFan shows them at about 30deg C. I cant imagine an OCed P4 630 being that low.

CoreTemp or Intel TAT reads the temps from the actual CPU. (more accurate results)

I understand what you’re saying about the temps with regards to the tunnel reducing them, However the part about speed fan I feel is wrong, I am unable to use the Intel temp programs due to me not having a c2d, In the bios under hardware monitor there is also a significant jump in CPU temps as well as numerous software programs reporting these, I am unable sorry to post a screen shot of the temps in the foxconn case but I can assure you of the CPU idling @ 31c and load @ 45c, now in the Soprano these are 43c & 59c these in my mind are not acceptable.

The only option as I can see is to change to a better HSF and hope that brings the temps down.

And BTW SiD-P my P4 630 is @ stock speeds of 3000 MHz :p

Thanks for the reply’s so far guys :D

Sorry my mistake

Im sorry I could not help you much. let me have a think, there maybe a solution

it depends on your heatsink. i had a side intake directly over my big typhoon in my old case and it did drop temps by 7c by the use of an akasa amber fan with dust filter over it.

it all depends on the type of cpu heatsink you use. if you use something like an arctic freezer pro then you wont see any gains from a side intake but if you use something liek the big typhoon/g-power/si120 then yes the direct air feed will be beneficial.

also i got my temps from the on die thermal diode so temps are accurate to me according to my setup. so if i change a fan in my case and it alters temps then that alteration is real since the measurements are taken by the same diode on the same cpu all the time.
